I can’t believe it’s over。 The deaths still got to me, even after the second time reading & countless times watching the movies。 This was the best series to get me through my recent break up。 It was entrancing—the world building, characters, and themes are timeless。 I will be re-reading again soon :)

It was appropriate to read this during Covid because Harry, Ron, and Hermione spend much of the book isolated from the world, getting news of family and friends in bits and dribbles and fighting desperately to keep themselves safe。I object to the use of the word hallows, though because that word refers to things or people of blessing, not things of power。 That may be the impression she was hoping for by calling them the "deathly" hallows。I particularly liked the way Rowling handled the rift betw It was appropriate to read this during Covid because Harry, Ron, and Hermione spend much of the book isolated from the world, getting news of family and friends in bits and dribbles and fighting desperately to keep themselves safe。I object to the use of the word hallows, though because that word refers to things or people of blessing, not things of power。 That may be the impression she was hoping for by calling them the "deathly" hallows。I particularly liked the way Rowling handled the rift between Harry and Ron。 Ron may not have led a cushioned existence but he certainly led a sheltered one。 His home was a happy place and everything he needed was supplied so that once meals are iffy, he becomes quite prickly。 He's never experienced hunger and the fact that there is no detailed plan to follow is beyond him。 Harry doesn't know what will happen next, nor does Hermione, but they are prepared to sit down and work through what they know, or imagine, or can suppose will come next and work out what to do while Ron can't do that and assumes all they can do is go home and give up。We do get into Voldemort's mind the closer we get to the end and we finally learn all the bits we've never heard before, Snape's origin story and what happened to Dumbledore and his family。The best idea Rowling had was to write the last chapter "Nineteen Years Later" which should have stopped anyone from writing their own endings to the story。 It didn't, but it stopped the worst reimaginings。 Enjoyed it tremendously。 。。。more

wanted to give it a 4。5 as I didn’t love it as much as the others but since I can’t do that I’ll settle for a 4 :)

I can’t believe I’ve read it all。 The whole series! And what a journey。 I feel like it was such a distant time ago when I first sat down and started reading the first book。 I feel as if I have grown with them and learned all sorts of things。 Definitely will be revisiting this series for the many years to come。

Wow!!! No puedo creer que acabo de terminar la saga, siento una mezcla de alegría y tristeza。Espere un año para leer el último libro porque no quería terminarlo y ahora que ya lo termine。 Deseo volver atrás y leer de nuevo toda la saga。

No this did not make it to the list because it overshadowed the much better warrior cats series that was coming out around the same time, and because I desperately wished my childhood was one filled with furries vying for political supremacy and control over natural resources, instead of snot-nosed-brats running around with broom sticks waving a wooden phallus at me screaming incantations and expecting me to drop dead。 This series made it onto the list because I was so excited to read a flippin No this did not make it to the list because it overshadowed the much better warrior cats series that was coming out around the same time, and because I desperately wished my childhood was one filled with furries vying for political supremacy and control over natural resources, instead of snot-nosed-brats running around with broom sticks waving a wooden phallus at me screaming incantations and expecting me to drop dead。 This series made it onto the list because I was so excited to read a flippin 7 book epic on a ceramicist who struggles with body image。 Maybe I allow too many of my interests to be influenced by “Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo,” but hey, I do, and I’m tired of pretending to be ashamed about it。 For real though, wouldn’t you have rather read a story of a hairy beast learning to love themselves and realize the very thing that alienated them from society, gave them the ability to throw the most beautiful pieces of pottery anyone had ever seen? And then society has to take a good hard look at their own reflection and re-envision what they thought of as ugly as beautiful, and beautiful as ugly? This one I would recommend to people that like books with "war。" This book is definitely more hard core than any other book in this series。 But I do like the ending meaning the last few pages。 This one I would recommend to people that like books with "war。" This book is definitely more hard core than any other book in this series。 But I do like the ending meaning the last few pages。 。。。more

Lottate!

Okay, whew。 What a ride it has been。It's a bit different to read this book now that im older。 I realized some things i didn't notice at first and that made me enjoy the book a lot more, and there were parts of the plot i had completely forgotten as well。 For example, the scene at Malfoy Manor, or Dumbledore's sister's story, or Aberfoth, who speaks about the true villain: Dumbledore。 (view spoiler)[ When Aberfoth speaks about his brother, and later we see Snape's memories we can really see how m Okay, whew。 What a ride it has been。It's a bit different to read this book now that im older。 I realized some things i didn't notice at first and that made me enjoy the book a lot more, and there were parts of the plot i had completely forgotten as well。 For example, the scene at Malfoy Manor, or Dumbledore's sister's story, or Aberfoth, who speaks about the true villain: Dumbledore。 (view spoiler)[ When Aberfoth speaks about his brother, and later we see Snape's memories we can really see how manipulative Dumbledore was with Harry, still charismatic。 I mean taking the cloak from Harry's parents when they were hiding? sure, the cloak wouldn't have protected them against spells but they could have hidden or run away。 Jeez。 (hide spoiler)]Snape was also portrayed as a hero, but i still find him creepy。 Sure, maybe he did a couple nice things in the end, but he always treated Harry badly, as opossed to Lupin for example, who always cared for him。 Snape was only able to see James in Harry, and it still baffles me (view spoiler)[ that harry named his child after him and dumbledore (hide spoiler)]Other than that, this time the chase of the Horrocruxes didn't seem as long as the first time i read this book。 The battle of Hogwarts seemed shorter than i remembered, and the deaths were not as striking to me (maybe because it's been years and im already familiarized with them)。 I loved when everyone was together in the room of requirement, fighting from the inside of Hogwarts, all Houses united。 While everything regarding Voldemort and Harry is explained in this book, i still find it a miracle that the golden trio were able to follow all the clues- one error or miscalculation and Dumbledore's plan could have not worked at all。 A bit of luck took part in that i guess。The only thing i didn't like, appart from Snape and Dumbledore, is that the book ends quite abruptly。 I'd have loved for it to continue a bit more, to have Harry reunite with the Weasleys, specially Ginny, and talk about everything and about what will happen from now on。 Overall it's a really good book that is really well written- lot's of different adventures and explanations。 I'm giving it 4。5 stars, because even though it's a really good book and i've enjohed it a lot, it doesn't stir the same feelings in me as my favourites in the series。 。。。more
